The Day We Felt Lucky

I wanted to document the fun we had this weekend. Fun, actually, doesn't even come close to describing it. It was filled with so many great family activities and a lot of memories to hold on to.

One of those memories and activities was the large egg hunt in our community on Saturday. Honestly, when I was looking it up on my way home from work that morning, I was initially worried that maybe there would be 10 kids there only and it would be awkward. Silly me.

Turns out, there were close to about 200 kids, and about 500 people there total. Mad house. With 10,000 eggs sprawled everywhere, I was sure it would take a good 30 minutes to pick everything up.

Oh no.

It was seriously a crazy zoo full of animals out there running after those eggs. Elliana was so confused and just kept running because that is what all the kids were doing. I had to stop her and keep telling her to pick up eggs. She was so perplexed by the whole situation. Eventually she got with the program and started throwing eggs in her basket.

And two minutes later, it was over. Just like that.

Andrew and I looked at each other and just had those amazed looks on our faces. Like wow.

Then after searching through E's eggs, we discovered that out of 10,000 she was one of the lucky 25 that had a golden coin in one of her eggs which meant she won a big gift basket. And then to top things off we also had a raffle ticket that a lady passed out to everyone, and what do you know, the first number that was called was us.

Needless to say, after our little family lunch date, we stopped by the gas station and picked up a couple lottery tickets.

Needless to say, we didn't win.

Obviously, since I'm still blogging. Ha, joking.

Overall it was a successful egg hunt, we felt pretty darn lucky, and although we won some great prizes, hands down the best prize of all has been creating these wonderful memories with the ones I love the most.
