You can't fool mama bear.

You know, children are smart.
Really smart.
They know how to work it at a young age.
They mastered it from day one.

They cry? You pick them up.
They keep crying? You change them.
Still crying? Feed them.
More crying? Entertain them.
Continue crying? You dance, and oo-ahh, and jump around like a monkey to entertain the baby.

You might as well turn into a chimp. That is how desperate and foolish you become. And by you, I mean we. And by we, I mean I.

And then you get a giggle. And you breathe a sigh of relief. Like you just beat dooms-day or something. You have another chance at life. Enjoy it while it lasts.

And as they grow, they continue to work those cries.
Those tears.
The alligator booo-hooo-mama-help-me-i'm-so-sad-tears. Which they aren't even tears. But they sure are good at making you think they are.

Ha."Suckers."

Those children are plotting against us. The parents. They are working towards total domination. And by falling for it? We are helping them reach this goal.

I mean look at that picture. It's so pitiful and cute at the same time and all you want to do is just scoop her up and give her everything she could possibly need or want. Right?

Nope. Not here.

This mama laughs at her. I've totally distinguished the want cry from the need cry. And girlfran is finally figuring out that this mama doesn't play around. Nope. Not a fool here.

Instead, I catch it on camera. Capture the little trick that she is trying to pull. And when she is 16? And she tries to do this same.exact.thing {because you know she will}.... "i'm just going to suzy's house so that we can watch movies and paint our nails. no boys will be there"...I'll tell her the same exact thing...

You can't fool mama bear.

But you sure do look cute trying.

Also, linking up with Tara and Vicki for Nail Files. Here is a picture of my "dark side" nail polish. I was actually able to paint them, dry them, and keep them scratch free while baby girl napped.

  4. Well you couldn't have said it any better!! They are too smart for there own good! I am just amazed at how smart Savannah has become! I can also tell the difference in her cries, and I think the "laughing plan" is a great idea! It helps to get there mind off of whatever was making them get so worked up!! LUV the nail color!

  5. You are so right... these little ones have us wrapped around their finger! Sometimes I can just hear them thinking, "Look what I made these fools do this time!" Haha. I've learned the difference too and now send my toddler into another room when she is crying for no good reason. Amazingly, she stops crying by the time she's through the door!

  6. My daughter is too young to do a fake cry...she whines and I tell her to stop her whining (she's 6 months). I figure that if there are actual tears then it might be something more than a trick. Unless you're little one can fake it with tears, then maybe they would make a good child actor.

  12. Haha this is so true! Even though I do this with my neices and nephews, this is just they way it goes. it's like they know that the more they cry, the more you make a fool of yourself lol.

  13. Saige is the queen of the fake crying!! She will be screaming with no tears coming out. I swear our neighbors last night probably thought we were torturing her with the screams coming out just because I was changing her diaper! Dear lord child!!

What will we ever do with our divas??!!

  14. ahhh! She is still so cute even throwing a temper tantrum!

  15. LOL I know about this all to well. Both girls do this and I do the same thing, I laugh at them and then take their picture! Kaylee gets even more dramatic when I take her picture. Elli still looks adorable crying and all.

  17. I was just thinking this same thing the other morning. J has the fake cry nail at 9 months old, I kid you not. The other morning he was screaming in his crib, when I walked into his room he perked up real quick with a big grin. Hmm, sneaky little booger. And yes, they still look super cute even when they are faking it!

  18. Hahaha I have a dramatic little girl too and it is kind of hilarious and I laugh too sometimes. The fake cries are unreal! Quite the manipulators!

And I LOVE a good naptime nail session. Perfection.

  19. Ha, we are in for it! I see drama on a daily basis - whines, squeals, the fake cries, and my favorite: The screamies. No, not because the house is on fire or someone just got shot. But because a cheerio fell on the floor, lol! Too ironic, I was able to paint my nails last night too while baby slept. That NEVER happens! Love your dark color ; )

  23. I love that you caught her in the act. You can definitely tell by her sweet little sad face that she's not committed to *actually* being upset.

    LOVE IT :)

  24. She is so adorably upset!

They absolutely hate when you finally figure that out! She'll hate it more when she's older.

I need to start documenting those faces of my girls to use against them. Brilliant!
