Graham was just a couple hours old. We had finally settled into our room that we would be in for the next 48 hours, my parents and sister were there, and my in-laws were at home with the big sister, our precious first child, Elliana.
After asking me ten-million-times if it was okay that he goes to pick her up, I rushed him quickly and said "YES, PLEASE!" I wanted her here. I needed her here. I missed her terribly and it killed me that she wasn't there to meet her brother yet. I couldn't wait another minute.
Although, I had to wait a couple hours.
Everyone had left at this point, and it was just the little man and me. I turned off the lights and I let everything that had happened in the past 12 hours sink in. It was all surreal.
I was counting down the minutes until Elliana walked through that hospital door. I kept texting and calling Andrew... "Are you guys close yet."
And then she arrived. Unsure. A little scared. Curious.
Then she saw ME.
"Mama......" in the softest voice... almost like a question.
"Yes baby, come here and meet your baby brother Graham."
And she popped up on the hospital bed, gave me the biggest hug and kiss and then was completely and utterly enamored with this little human that was now in her mama's arms.
Jealousy? None. All the prepping the past 9 months worked wonders. She knew right away that the baby out of mama's belly was "baby Graham," and just like that she loved him from the second she met him. So many kisses. So many soft touches. And that smile. Oh man her smile.
So genuine.
She made us all super proud. And she continues to make us super proud.
This gave me goosebumps. SO CUTE!! :)
